Planned Remarks:
Much news print has been expended recently comparing America’s healthcare system to those in other countries ... with conflicting conclusions. What is the real story? Many believe that it is in the” eye of the beholder” ... those who participate in these systems. Dr. Patrick M. Bernet will help us cut through the spin to get down to the facts of how our heathcare system really stacks up against those of other countries.
WAC DIALOGUE -- The Saturday morning WAC Dialogues are designed to help members gain a better understanding of some of today’s most pressing global issues through the exchange of ideas and extended discussion.

The Delray Beach Public Library is located on Atlantic Avenue, east of I-95, one block west of Swinton Avenue, next to the South County Courthouse and across the street from the Delray Tennis Center. Parking can be found behind the library.

Speaker's Biography:
Patrick M. Bernet, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Healthcare Management in Florida Atlantic University's College of Business.
Dr. Bernet has taught classes on healthcare management, finance, research methods and economics. His current research projects include public health finance, hospital bond financing and healthcare provider efficiency. He also has authored articles in refereed journals and academic texts.
In previous careers, Dr. Bernet has worked as a consultant in the healthcare industry. Working in HMOs, physician practices and community health planning organizations, he has twenty years of first-hand industry experience. His work with physician practices includes network development, HMO contract negotiation, practice mergers, practice management, AMA-sponsored seminar development and presentation, capitation contract pricing and practice valuation. His work with HMOs includes information systems project management, business reorganization, market analysis, Medicare license filings, financial analysis and the development of one of the first physician profiling systems.
Dr. Bernet has participated in studies on the financing and economics of public health care systems in the United States and abroad. He also has authored numerous trade publication articles on physician practice business issues and managed care.
