"Academic WorldQuest 2010
International Quiz Competition for High Schools"
AWQ 2010 Competition
Planned Remarks:

What’s WorldQuest?

It’s a team trivia game testing each competitor’s knowledge of international affairs, geography, history and culture with questions on current events and fun facts. Teams for the local contest consist of four to eight high school students from the same school. Teams for the national competition consist of four members. Teams compete by answering rounds of questions testing their knowledge of world affairs. More information can be found by clicking on the Academic WorldQuest link in the left-hand column.

Speaker's Biography:

Academic WorldQuest is a flagship program of the World Affairs Councils of America, now widely played at the adult and high school levels around the country. The contest was invented by the Charlotte (NC) Council and now is widely played at the adult and high school levels around the nation. The World Affairs Councils of America started the national competition in Washington, D.C., in March 2003. Participants come from high schools who have won local competitions sponsored by World Affairs Councils throughout the United States.

2009 Competition:
On February 28, 2009, Saint Andrews High School from Boca Raton won the local competition for the third year in a row, beating out high school teams from Alexander Dreyfoos School of the Arts from West Palm Beach; American Heritage from Delray Beach; St. Edwards from Vero Beach; Seminole Ridge from Loxahatchee, and Suncoast from Riviera Beach. Saint Andrews represented our Council in the National contest in Washington D.C. on April 4, against 50 teams from across the United States
