The Council, founded in 2003, is a membership-based, non-profit, 501(c)(3),
non-partisan educational organization. It is a member of the World Affairs Councils of America (WACA), with national offices in Washington, D.C. There are over 80 councils in cities throughout the United States, including Jacksonville, Naples, Boston, New York, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, and San Francisco.
The Council’s Distinguished Speaker Series offers its members and their guests monthly programs featuring prominent speakers from both the U.S. and abroad to participate in programs ranging from public talks to small group discussions. There will also be special events for the Young Professional Group.
The Council’s Educational Outreach Program to local universities and high schools involves faculty and students in speaker programs and provide speakers to schools on international issues.
Individual and family memberships, local foundations, businesses, institutions and corporations will provide the financial
resources for programming and other expenses.
The World Affairs Council of the Florida Palm Beaches will initially focus on:
- Distinguished Speaker Series - monthly speakers.
- Educational Outreach Program - speakers for school
programs and student attendance at council programs.
- Young Professionals Group - speakers series and
special events
- Great Decisions Series Discussion group.
